Dr Valerie Young (PhD. 1992) has been appointed Chairman of the Department of Chemical Engineering at Ohio University. Valerie was advised by Professors David Cox and Mark Davis.
Professor David Klinke (B.S. 1992) has joined the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of West Virginia as an Assistant Professor. David received his Ph.D. at Northwestern University in 1998 and worked for Entelos, Inc. for seven years before joining WVU. His research is focused on systems biology.

Dr. Chris Cornelius was named 2006 Professional of the Year for Technical Excellence by the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES). Chris received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 2000 under the guidance of Professor Eva Marand and currently works at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
ADA Technologies, Inc., located in Littleton, Colorado, won the 2005 Top Company of the Year Competition in Colorado in the Technology/Media/Telecommunications category. The president of ADA Technologies is Cliff Brown, who received a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1974.
A research, development, and commercialization company, ADA Technologies specializes in the creation and conversion of innovative technologies to commercial successes. The award, sponsored by ColoradoBiz magazine and UMB Bank, is based on financial performance, operational excellence, and community involvement.
Dr. Lori Wagner (B.S. 1982, Ph.D. 1987) has been appointed to the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors. The Board of Visitors is the governing authority of the University. (Among their duties is the appointment of the University President.) Lori is a founding and current member of the Department of Chemical Engineering's Advisory Board, and has served on the College of Engineering Advisory Board and the Center for the Enhancement of Engineering Diversity Advisory Council. She is also a member of the College of Engineering's Committee of 100. Lori is currently Manager of Advanced Fibers and Composites for Honeywell International. Her husband Steve is also an alumnus of the ChE Department (B.S. 1983), and they reside in the Richmond, Virginia area with their two daughters, Samantha and Sierra.
Dr. Basil 'Bill' Doumas (B.S. 1954, M.S. 1955, Ph.D. 1961) is the 2005 recipient of the American Institute of Chemical Engineering (AIChE) F.J. & Dorothy Van Antwerpen Award for Service to the Institute. The citation for this award reads:
We present the F.J. and Dorothy Van Antwerpen Award to Bill Doumas for dedicated, sustained service to the AIChE, spanning decades as Director, President, Chair of the Government Relations Committee, and International Ambassador and member of the Societal Impact Operating Council.
In addition, Bill was one of eight alumni elected into Virginia Tech's College of Engineering Academy of Excellence. Membership in the Academy is reserved for "...individuals holding an engineering degree from Virginia Tech's College of Engineering who have made sustained and meritorious engineering and/or leadership contributions during their careers. Initiates have reached the pinnacle of their professional achievements and will normally have been alumni for 40 or more years."
